Residents living near the Porter Ranch oil fields fled their homes when a state of emergency was called after raw methane gas, leaking roughly 10,000 pounds per hour, entered the atmosphere. Residents started experiencing symptoms from nosebleeds to nausea associated with the gas, leaving many to wonder what lingering potential health dangers they faced as well as the impact the leak could have on the environment.
