PROJECT ALMANAC director Dean Israelite shares the trailer for PROJECT ALMANAC, and discusses his debut film, and how he managed to enter into the movie business. The involvement of Michael Bay, Israelite’s role in BATTLE: LOS ANGELES, his experience at film school and what is next for the director is shared with the Insiders host Sebastian Twardosz.
Dean Israelite was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. After high school, he attended the University of Witwatersrand, studying Dramatic Art, before moving to Australia to attend Curtin University, receiving his undergraduate in Film and Television. From there, he was accepted to the American Film Institute (AFI) in Los Angeles, receiving his MFA. Dean wrote and directed the award winning short film ‘ACHOLILAND.’ The film was screened at numerous film festivals, winning, among other accolades, three Student Emmys as well as a BAFTA/LA award. From there, Dean worked as the assistant to the director, Jonathan Liebesman, on the Sony film ‘BATTLE: LOS ANGELES.’ In 2012, Dean was hired to direct the movie ‘PROJECT ALMANAC’ for Michael Bay and Paramount Pictures. The film is being released wide on January 30th 2015. Dean is currently in talks for his next film.
